Join Us in Supporting The Braden James Fund
At Capital Kids DC, every child leaves an imprint on our hearts. Few have touched our community as deeply as Braden Meeker, who attended Capital Kids from 2016 until his passing in 2022 from DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma).

Braden was known for his warmth, curiosity, and love of play. He had strong emotions and an indomitable strength of spirit but like all toddlers, his was as unique to him as our fingerprints. His spirit continues to guide us in the joy and compassion we bring to every classroom. In his honor, Braden’s parents, Will and Alma, created The Braden James Fund - a powerful effort to help families affected by DIPG find hope, strength, and moments of childhood joy while advancing research toward a cure.
The Fund’s mission is simple and profound: PLAY. ADVOCATE. CURE.

-
PLAY: Help children with DIPG and their families find joy through creative outlets and play during treatment.
-
ADVOCATE: Push for better access to clinical trials and promising medications for children battling DIPG.
-
CURE: Support research and scientists working toward better treatments and, one day, a cure.

This holiday season, we invite our Capital Kids family to honor Braden by supporting the Braden James Fund. Together, we can continue his legacy - helping kids be kids for as long as possible, while fueling the search for a cure.
Braden’s life continues to remind us of what makes this community so special: the courage of our children, the strength of our families, and the hope we create when we come together.

With gratitude,
The Capital Kids DC Team
